The Crafts of Lalitpur

We had the pleasure of learning about some textile artisanal businesses in the Lalitpur district, not far from Kathmandu.

We started cooperating with a company that specializes in the processing of pure Nepalese wool and, above all, CASHMERE.

We have visited Nepal several times in recent years (the last time in June 2025) and have established a friendship with some local entrepreneurs who have allowed us to visit their laboratories and verify that the quality of life and respect for the environment are the best possible by the country's standards.

Once we had obtained the appropriate guarantees in terms of work ethics, we began to develop products together with them.

These artisans are known for their exceptional skill in working wool and cashmere by hand (with knitting needles) or on handlooms. Nepalese women work these materials, typical of the Himalayan valleys, with exceptional skill and incredible speed.

We decided to incorporate the products of several Lalitpur workshops into our project because we believe it's important to showcase and promote their work. Our goal has been and will be to develop, together with them, products suited to the European market and, above all, to our style and values.

Let's get to know

  • The wool

Nepalese wool is of excellent quality but is typically lightly processed and therefore has a very natural, rough appearance. It is particularly suitable for hand-knitting sweaters, hats, and gloves.

  • Cashmere

Cashmere wool is obtained from the shearing of a particular goat native to the mountains of the Himalayan region of Kashmir and, more generally, the highlands of Central Asia. Today, yarn produced from the wool of the Changthangi goat comes primarily from Mongolia. This yarn, with its unique properties, is mainly produced in Nepal due to the particular climatic conditions that are ideal for spinning this material.
